Sixteen stormwater pond’s sediment were sampled in coastal South Carolina for contaminants. These ponds are a subset of a larger water quality study conducted by the state coastal program. Land use and catchment area were a large factor contributing to elevated pollutant levels in sediment. The results suggest that PAHs are a contaminant of potential ecological and human health concern.
