This thesis was submitted by Jeffrey Marvin to the University of Toronto’s Department of Civil & Mineral Engineering. It discusses the implications of permeable interlocking concrete pavement (PICP) implementation on the amount of de-icing salt required to achieve desired conditions. The study evaluated the performance of PICP and asphalt test pads over two winters under varying conditions in Ontario (Canada).
