Line, D. E. 2006. Monitoring the Effects of Highway Construction in the Sedgefield Lakes Watershed. North Carolina Department of Transportation, Raleigh, NC.
Construction, Erosion, Lakes, Monitoring, Sediment, Water quality, Residential, Highways, Turbidity
This report was prepared by the North Carolina State University Water Quality Group for the North Carolina Department of Transportation. It summarizes the results of a water quality monitoring effort that evaluated the effects of construction on a major highway on the water quality of nearby residential lakes. All six monitored sites showed increases in sediment load and turbidity upon the start of highway construction; however, the construction had no significant effect on temperature, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, or pH.
