This study evaluated the effect of compaction on the infiltration rates of sandy soils in North Central Florida. Soil infiltration in urban construction sites was measured using a double ring infiltrometer under various degrees of compaction. The results indicate that compaction from construction activity increases runoff potential by decreasing the infiltration rate of pervious areas.
