This study analyzed 50 samples for each of over 20 drainage areas in coastal regions of California (U.S.) to evaluate the prevalence of markers of human fecal bacteria. While the main marker of human fecal bacteria was present at all sites during wet weather, the extent of contamination was widely varied from site to site.
