This study developed a model composed of 13 biogeochemical metrics to represent the biomass of various types of phytoplankton found throughout the Gulf of Mexico (U.S.). The study identifies the need to analyze biomass fluxes from biological and physical perspectives in order to more fully understand the Gulf of Mexico’s ecosystem.
