This literature review assesses the relationship between riparian buffer width on nitrogen removal effectiveness. The meta-analysis suggests a more complicate suite of environmental characteristics (e.g., soil type, subsurface biogeochemistry, and subsurface hydrology) play a substantial role in nitrogen removal effectiveness rather than just buffer width.
