This study identified an ecosystem-wide reorganization in the Gulf of Mexico in the mid-1990s by analyzing over 100 indicators of ecological health. The analysis indicated climate-specific drivers of the change, and the study provides insight to managers who seek to distinguish between the effects of climate change and ”typical” anthropogenic pressures on aquatic ecosystems like that of the Gulf of Mexico.
