This report describes the development and intended use of the Coastal Salinity Index (CSI), which is a computational tool used to characterize drought (high-salt) and wet (high-freshwater) conditions in coastal areas along the northern Gulf of Mexico and the southeastern Atlantic Ocean (U.S.).
