This study evaluated the effects of oyster breakwater reefs on shoreline erosion in a monsoon-dominanted subtropical system on the southeastern coast of Bangladesh. The study measured wave dissipation by deployed oyster reefs, patterns of erosion/deposition and lateral salt marsh growth. The results indicate that these oyster reefs can minimize erosion, retain sediment, and support salt marsh expansion.
