This study evaluated the effects of adjacent land use and water quality on amphibian species richness, abundance, and diversity in over 70 wetlands in Ontario (Canada). The results indicate that implementing narrow buffers between wetlands and intensive land uses is not a sufficient wetland conservation tactic; maintaining a relatively large, regional landscape composed of natural forests and wetlands is more efficient.
