The impact of how different vegetation improves pollutant removal efficiency was studied using semi-synthetic stormwater passing through a soil filter medium. Twenty Australian plant species were tested for various pollutants. Presence of plants improved effectiveness of biofilters, but a variation in pollutant removal was observed for the different plant species.
