Responses for urban land uses were investigated using macroinvertebrates in nine metropolitan areas. The measurements were based on ordination scores, the number of EPT taxa, and the mean pollution-tolerance value of organisms. Degradation responses in the biological community were found during the initial stages of urbanization, associated with urban development and urban land uses, and significant at 5-10% impervious cover levels.
