This article describes the creation and intended use of a three-dimensional groundwater flow and solute transport model of a floodplain in Syracuse, NY (U.S.) used to evaluate the impacts of road salt runoff on urban streams. The results of the calibrated model were compared to field observations, and the results of the study provide context for the hydrogeologic processes surrounding chloride.
