This study was conducted by Minnesota State University’s Center for Transportation Research & Implementation for the Minnesota Department of Transportation. The study evaluates the persistence and effectiveness of anti-icing and de-icing materials on standard pavements. The results indicate that moisture condition, traffic conditions, crosswinds, and material distribution significantly impact the efficiency of some winter maintenance materials.
