This paper presents a novel processing method for airborne-lidar-derived digital elevation models (DEMs) that was developed using both field sampling and remote sensing data. The resultant models are used on over 225 elevation points in the lower Apalachicola River Marsh (Florida, U.S.) to evaluate the aboveground density of salt marsh vegetation.
