This study evaluated the density and biomass of zooplankton populations in a section of the Danube River (Europe) with highly variable hydrologic conditions. The results indicate that the hydrological dynamics of this riverine system substantially impacts the patterns and succession of its zooplankton populations. Additionally, flood events appear to ”reset” the zooplankton community to a phase similar to that of early succession.
