A review of research is provided to examine the impacts of urban impervious cover (IC) on hydrologic systems over the last 40 years. The review examines how urban impacts can be quantified and modeled, the impact changes in IC distribution within urban areas, the mapping programs and resolution used, and how water flow in urban areas is modeled in the studies. In addition to the review, data gaps and additional factors for IC impacts are provided.
