This paper describes the long-term ecosystem monitoring efforts conducted by the Pacific Reef Assessment and Monitoring Program, which is the Pacific-specific segment of NOAA’s National Coral Reef Monitoring Plan. The paper describes managing trade-offs for data integrity and interdisciplinary relevance. It outlines a polycentric monitoring approach and includes three recommendations for meeting information requirements when implementing ecosystem-based management efforts.
